Maurice Greenia, Jr.

Maurice Greenia, Jr. is an American surrealist based in Detroit, Michigan. He got serious about painting and sculpting in 1977 and was showing his art in local galleries in 1980. In 1985 he started his monthly art sheet "The Poetic Express", and a few years later he began performing puppet shows.

In the mid 1990's he created a huge art project on downtown Detroit's Hudson's Building consisting of over 500 chalk drawings covering over 1000 feet. He was in several art exhibits in France which were sponsored by his friend, the late Jacques Karamanoukian.

Since then he has been on the staff at the Zeitgeist Gallery. He also installs various exhibits at The University of Detroit Mercy. Other activities include singing and playing music with the Space Band and The Don't Look Now Jug Band.
