ICTD (Information and Communication Technologies and Development) is the application of technological solutions to the problems of the developing world, typically areas which have not had much penetration of technological advancement. The most famous example of an ICTD project is the [http://laptop.org/ One Laptop Per Child Project] , resulting in the OLPC_XO-1.

Publications addressing current ICTD research include [http://www.i4donline.net/ i4d] and [http://itd.ist.unomaha.edu/ ITD] . ACM and IEEE host annually a conference addressing the current state of research and project in the ICTD domain, [http://www.ictd2009.org/ the next of which] will be hosted in Doha, Qatar.
