Auðr

Auðr

Auðr or Auði the Rich is a character in Norse mythology who is only mentioned by Snorri Sturluson. He appears in the "Prose Edda" where he is given as the son of Nótt and Naglfari and in the "Heimskringla" where he is the father of a girl who married a mythological king of Sweden named Visbur. In both cases he is little more than a name in a genealogy and the two names may not even refer to the same character.

The name means "wealth", see Odal and Uppsala öd.

Some consider him a king of Finland. [http://victorian.fortunecity.com/christy/32/frnjtre.html]
