The Vincent Award is an European
award given to an artist whose works are highly relevant to thecontemporary art . The award is held every two years starting from2000 inthe Netherlands . For every award five artists are nominated and the winner is granted with the prize of € 50.000.The Vincentaward is aimed at stimulating European artists and building the discussion platform within theEurope .History
The Vincent Award was established in
2000 by the "Broere Charitable Foundation" in memory ofMonique Zajfen , a beloved friend of the Broere family and holder of the Gallery 121 inAntwerp .The art collection of
Monique Zajfen constituted of the works by The Vincent Award winners and purchases of works by other contemporary artists is given to theStedelijk Museum ofAmsterdam on long-term loan.The award first took place at
Bonnefanten Museum ofMaastricht ,the Netherlands . Starting from2006 The Vincent Award is hosted byStedelijk Museum ofAmsterdam . The winners of theaward are defined by six members of the jury headed by the director ofStedelijk Museum ofAmsterdam .
