Vernon A. Rosario II (born 1962) is an American
psychiatrist andmedical historian who focuses on the study ofhuman sexuality . His recent work has focused ontransgender andintersex youth, and he has served as chair of the medical advisory board forIntersex Society of North America .Life and career
Rosario earned undergraduate degrees in
French literature andbiomedical engineering fromBrown University in 1986. He received his Ph.D. in theHistory of Science fromHarvard University in 1993, and his M.D. from theHarvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology in 1995. Rosario completed a residency and fellowship with the Neuropsychiatric Institute (NPI) atUniversity of California, Los Angeles in 1997. In 2002 he began a private practice and has held a NPI clinical teaching position since 2003.Rosario has published in English and French, and his books include "Science and Homosexualities"Sengoopta C (1998).
