UK funky (London house, funky, funky house) is a funk- influenced subgenre of UK garage, the London-based sister scene to bassline house. It mixes traditional UKG beats, bass loops and synths with Latin percussion and R&B-style vocals.

History

A darker strain of funky house has begun to emerge from London, largely coming from producers involved with the grime and old UK garage scenes. Since the number of funky house recordings are low, DJs usually do not have enough material to fill a full mix, therefore mixing the genre with US house and labeling the product 'house & funky'. In London there are now specialist nights for the genre, such as Casa Funk. The events are usually hosted by MCs.
