CarbonRally

CarbonRally is a web-based activism platform that aims to mix online games and social networks with consumers' desire to shrink their carbon footprint. It was created in Someville, MA by Jason Karas inspired by Dr. Johnathna Karas who rallied many around the wonder of science, our planet, and the importance of fun in every pursuit.

CarbonRally offers a series of carbon reducing challenges, such as not drinking bottled water, dumping shopping bags and leaving your car at home. These challenges translates into the a reduction of greenhouse gas and induviduals or groups can compete against others to become the most carbon friendly participants. Every user is able to check their current score through 'My Carbon Page', or 'Leaderboard' which shows top cities, teams and individuals. Additionally, passionate users also can post their own ideas for new challenges, share their thoughts about environmental issues, and even organize local events contributing to reduce carbon emission.

This Web site was named as 'Time's 50 best Web sites in 2008' in hobbies and interests category.
