Reer Aw Xasan

Reer Aw-Xasan is an Ashraf community based mostly in the Southern Somalia's Shabelle region as well as in the Hiiraan and along the border between Ethiopia and Somalia. Some Reer aw Xassan members are also found in parts of Kenya especially Mandera. There are two major sub clans of Reer aw- Xasan Saa'id and Nur. Saa'id which has got the largest number of people are also divided into two groups, Reer aw Kheyre and Reer aw-Xuuriye. Most of reer aw kheyre are found in the bigger towns in southern Somalia like Afgoye, Qoryooley, Wanleweyn, KIsmaayo and some of them live in the capital Mogadisho. They are mostly farmers they got farms in the rural areas of Afgoye which is exclusive to Reer Aw Kheyre eg Buuxaaw, Shaan, Gal-dheere, Beedle, Afuufaaley and some other places. Reer Aw Xuuriye which is the largest are mostly nomads, they are rich in farming camels they are one of the richest camel farmers in Southern Somalia, they mostly live in rural area of Qoryooley and Afgoye. Nur subclan which is a very small minority clan live in ethiopean towns like Buurukur, Feerfeer and Abaaley.
