"The Penguins of Madagascar" (previously known as ""Penguins!") is an American CGI Animated TV series broadcast on Nickelodeon, starring the Penguins from the 2005 film, "Madagascar". This is the first Nicktoon produced with DreamWorks Animation.

Plot

Four wacky penguins named Skipper (the leader of the group), Kowalski (the smartest of the group), Private (the youngest),and Rico (the craziest), will rule the roost at their Central Park Zoo home. At times their secret missions beckon them to venture out onto the busy streets of New York City. Just as the team thinks it has its urban acreage under control, a new neighbor moves in next door: Julien, King of the Lemurs.

Characters

* Skipper (Tom McGarth): The leader of the group. He's really good at barking orders out, naming plans, and slapping the others.

* Kowalski (Chris Miller): The smartest of the penguins. He's good at forming plans for the group and usually takes notes for Skipper.

* Private (Christopher Knights): The youngest of the group. He's mostly good at cracking codes, and is often slapped by Skipper. Also loves taking notes for Skipper. In the Christmas Caper short (found on the Madagascar DVD), he was captured by the old lady.

* Rico (John DiMaggio): Psychotic knife wizard and explosives expert. Rico somewhat displays a certain talent for the culinary arts. Plus, he has dark circles under his eyes. Also, in the short, The Madagascar Penguins in a Christmas Caper, Rico has a small scratch on his lower face. However, he does not have it in the actual movie.

History

Constant Delay (2006-2008)

In Fall 2006, the creator of Madagascasr and , has thought of a great plan for a spin-off series to the Madagascar films that stars the Penguins of the films. In the Summer of 2007, Nickelodeon and Dreamworks Animation have approved to create a Nicktoon based on the films, "Madagascar". This new series stars the Penguins from the two Madagascasr films. Nothing has been confirmed on what the series is about, until January 2008.

At first, in November 2007, Nickelodeon has advertised a sneek peak of three new Nicktoons coming to Nickelodeon, "The Mighty B!", "Making Fiends", and "Penguins!" all on November 25, 2007 part of "SuperStuffed Nicktoons Weekend". In December 2007, Nickelodeon has advertised many events that'll be premiering on Nickelodeon in 2008 (The Mighty B!, Fairly OddBaby, "Penguins!", KCA 2008, , and Pest of the West). In April 2008, The Mighty B! made it's debut, and Making Fiends in October 2008 on Nicktoons Network.

Later in September 2008, Nickelodeon has recently changed the working title to "The Penguins of Madagascar". Nicktoons Debut (2009-TBA)

"The Penguins of Madagascar" is currently being planned for a Nickelodeon premiere in Early 2009. Though, Making Fiends has been sent to Nicktoons Network with a failure to premiere on Nickelodeon, this could happen to Penguins! as well, but nothing has yet be confirmed by Nickelodeon about this.
