Rafael Menjívar Ochoa (born
August 17 1959 inSan Salvador ) is a Salvadoranwriter ,novelist ,journalist andtranslator .His father, the economist
Rafael Menjívar Larín , was director ofUniversity of El Salvador . When thearmy occupied it in1972 , during which his father was jailed for a short period, after being exiled inNicaragua they were forced out in January of1973 towardsCosta Rica . In1976 they settled inMexico , where Menjívar Ochoa lived for 23 years. He studied the music and the theatre and English and oublished many books, his first of note being "Historia del traidor de Nunca Jamás", a novel written in 1984.In1999 he settled in El Salvador, where in2001 he became a Coordinator of Letters (Literature director) and founded the "La Casa del Escritor " (House of the Writer), a project aimed at providing a formation of young writers, located at the house ofSalvador Salazar Arrué . Despite being now based in El Salvador he has continued to be active in Mexico and has continued to publish books there. His wife is Salvadoran poetKrisma Mancía .Published works
