- Tara Reedy
Tara Reedy is the character played by AnnaSophia Robb in the 2008 film 'Sleepwalking'. The daughter of Joleen Reedy (played by Charlize Theron) and niece of James Reedy (played by Nick Stahl), Tara is twelve years old and lives first with her mother, and then - when Joleen leaves unexpectedly - with her mother's younger brother, James.
We learn throughout the film that Tara does not particularly like school; she is good at drawing (she draws a detailed picture in the car using the colouring pencils James bought for her) and rollerblading. In fact, there is one scene in the film where she dives into a pool fully clothed and wearing rollerblades.
Tara is a quiet and generally moody child, who smiles more and more frequently as the film goes on and she spends more and more time travelling the country with James. She argues frequently with her mother, but we learn through brief flashbacks about halfway through the film that she does actually care about her. Tara is also very stubborn, refusing to return to the children's home in which she is staying, when James comes to visit her about a quarter of the way into the film.
When James and Tara conceal their identities from the social services, Tara chooses to be called Nicole, and instructs James to be her 'dad', revealing that she probably wishes for a real father of her own.
