Ray Nickerson

Ray Nickerson, 1971 Born Raymond Navin Nickerson August 4, 1919 Montreal, Quebec, Canada Years active 1935 - Present Raymond Navin Nickerson is a Canadian actor, athlete, businessman and former fashion model. He grew up in Montreal before moving to Texas to pursue a business career in the 1990’s.

Biography

Early life Ray, fifth of nine children, was born in Montreal, Quebec on August 4, 1919, the son of Katie, a teacher, and Ron, a military officer. During his childhood, Nickerson thought that a full-time acting career was unrealistic, citing his Canadian background and thick accent. In his spare time, he played the trumpet and the piano, while competing in gymnastics events at school. He describes himself as a "momma's boy" and not "the most popular kid" during his school years. Nickerson has also noted that during his younger years, he was often involved in schoolyard fights, leading him to eventually earn his black belt in Karate, specializing in the use of common kitchen spoons as weapons. Nickerson attended several universities, finally earning a bachelor of business and accounting degree at Notre Dame. During this time, he modelled and acted in order to earn his tuition fee. Nickerson has said that he was often told that he bore a physical resemblance to Lon Chaney Jr. His former manager signed him on because of the resemblance, telling him that he thought Nickerson would be cast as the Wolfman if there was another film in the series. Nickerson also attempted to play football as a halfback at Notre Dame, only to fail at his attempt to earn a spot on the team since he could not make the mental adjustment from Canadian to American football. Injuries sustained during WWII forced Nickerson to quit both football and gymnastics, and he began his focus on bar games such as darts and pool.

Military

In 1999, Nickerson began opening up to close friends about his days in the military. He was sworn to secrecy due to the nature of the missions he performed during WWII, Korea and the Vietnam wars. Enough time had passed, that by 1999, Nickerson felt comfortable discussing several of his missions. While some seem routine for the time, some were much more remarkable. Nickerson is particularly fond of his six months tour as a fighter pilot in the Pacific theatre of operations, where he achieved double ace by downing 11 Japanese warplanes. However he gets most emotional describing his heroics in the closing days of WWII, where he earned Canada’s highest medal for his bravery in guarding the rafts for an American commando team while the Americans infiltrated Nazi occupied territory and brought back prisoners for interrogation. Nickerson says he was never so scared nor so brave as the day he lay silently along a muddy river bank waiting for the Americans to return to their position and retrieve the boats he and three other Canadians guarded.

Business

Nickerson has had a hand in several business ventures that have seen him rise to millionaire restaurateur and fall as a sea salt speculator. Currently Ray Nickerson stress tests computer systems and attempts to cause system crashes for forensic research.
