Frederick Cyril Nugent Hicks

The Rt Rev Frederick Cyril Nugent DD was an Anglican Bishop and author [Amongst others he wrote : “Consecration Prayers” (1908) and “The Fullness of Sacrifice” ( 1930) British Library Catalogue accessed 20:20 September 30th 2008] who served as Bishop of Gibraltarl [During which time he was appointed a Sub Prelate of the Order of St John of Jerusalem >"Order Of The Hospital Of St John of Jerusalem" The Times Saturday, Jun 23, 1928; pg. 17; Issue 44927; col D] then Lincoln for 15 years in the middle of the 20th century [ "Obituary-The Rt Rev FCN Hicks The Times Thursday, Feb 12, 1942; pg. 7; Issue 49158; col D] . Born on 28 June 1872 he was educated at Harrow and Balliol College, Oxford and ordained in 1897 [Who was Who 1987-1990: London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X ] .From then until 1909 he was successively Lecturer, Tutor then Dean of Keble College, Oxford. In 1909 he was appointed Principal of Bishops’ College, Cheshunt after which he was Rector of Toddington and Rural Dean of Brighton before his elevation to the episcopate. He died on 10 February 1942.
