Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta

"The Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta or CVC of Atlanta" (previously known as the Metro Atlanta Corporate Volunteer Council or MACVC) provides a collaborative knowledge base for companies located in Atlanta to develop their Employee Volunteer Programs (EVPs). The CVC of Atlanta is a 501 (c)(3) membership organization. The association facilitates the sharing among its members of the best practices concerning corporate community engagement. As of fall 2008, the CVC of Atlanta had more than 60 member companies plus affiliate, nonprofit members. It is a one of over 100 Corporate Volunteer Councils (CVCs), and a charter member of the National Network of CVCs through the Points of Light Foundation. It was recognized in 2006 by the National Points of Light Foundation with the Corporate Volunteer Council of the Year Award. In addition to promoting and helping to develop business-based volunteer programs and partnerships with community non-profits, the CVC of Atlanta also assists in the professional networking and development of members through numerous events. At these social and business meetings, member representatives are afforded the opportunity to share with and learn from their colleagues in similar businesses, or with similar volunteer programs. The management of EVPs is a small but growing profession in the world of corporate social responsibility. Many times member company representatives are the sole worker tasked to EVPs, so it helps to seek external camaraderie and advice - which this organization provides.

The CVC of Atlanta recognizes those member companies with exemplary EVPs– along with their nonprofit partners-at its annual IMPACT awards luncheon. The Carol D. Reiser book award is also given at this ceremony, acknowledging the best children’s book in the vein of encouraging community service in the youth.
