Rings
An item found in preaty much every Sonic game. In most of the games if you don't have any rings and you get hit you loose a life. But, if you have rings when you get hit you'll just drop some instead of loosing a life. An extra life is obtained for every 100 rings you collect.
Capsule
Usually at the end of some boss stages, this item, when jumped on, would release lots of tiny animals and the stage would be cleared. If there are capsules found before the end of the stage they would release either rings or an enemy and the stage wouldn't be cleared yet.
Item Boxes
Item boxes can be broken open to get an item. it could contain a shield, magnetic shield, heat shield, 5 rings, 10 rings, 20 rings, an extra life, a Power Core, High Speed Shoes, Bubble shield, invincability, team blast ring, fly charge ora random amount of rings.
Item Ballons
Item Balloons are the same thing as Item Boxes only they are shaped like balloons.
