NikeiD

NikeiD was founded in 2001 by Mark Parker the corporate executive officer of Nike incorporated and the Nike creative team. The creative team consisted of eight people; Glen Marshall, Jim Rogers, Joseph Madingham, Richard Dimes, Peggy Limeson, Sara Ritchwell, Hank Smith, and Billson Hakenjos. Mark Parker and the creative team wanted to innovate the industry and cement there names in Nike history. The creative team and Parker began working on the project in May of 1998. In the first meeting Parker told the creative team that the project is top secret and the only other people that know about it besides them is a few high ranking Nike officials. The code name of the project was “Night”, after one of the founders of Nike incorporated, Phil Knight. Two months went by and the team working on project Night had got no where. Parker was ready to shut the whole project down, but the day he was going to brake the news to the creative team there was a brake through. On August, 4, 1998 Glen Marshall was out shopping with his middle school son, Will Marshall. Will Marshall told his father that he was frustrated because stores never had the color shoes he wanted, that is when it all clicked. Marshall called Parker and everyone on the Nike creative team to est up a meeting. In the meeting Marshall told the team what his son said to him about the lack of selection in stores. The idea Marshall pitched to the team was this; a store/branch of Nike incorporated that provides customers with the ability to customize equipment, and apparel. Parker and the creative team loved the idea, but there was still one matter to take care of; the stores name. In two days the creative team narrowed the choice down to three names; Nike Custom, NikeiD, and Nike Choice. Ultimately the team decided on NikeiD and the rest is history. [http://www.nikeid.com/]
