G. Pels

G. Pels (1893-1966) was a Dutch astronomer. He worked mostly in South Africa, at the Yale Observatory Southern Station and the Royal Observatory, Cape of Good Hope.

Starting circa 1924, he studied Jupiter's Galilean satellites, minor planets, comets, and the proper motions of faint stars, in particular members of the Hyades cluster (this latter work was co-published posthumously, 1975–1976).

The asteroid 1667 Pels was named in his honour by his colleague Hendrik van Gent.
