Gabriel DuVal Senior HIgh School

Gabriel DuVal Senior High School (est.1959) is a public inclusive secondary school located in Lanham, Maryland. It is one of the many high schools of the Prince George's County Public Schools system. There are students in the school ranging from grades 9th-12th. The school’s mascot is DuVal Tigers.

History

Gabriel DuVal High School, formerly known as DuVal High School (DHS), is located in what was previously known as the small village of Good Luck. The school was originally equipped with 38 classrooms and was named after Judge Gabriel DuVall. The first principal of DuVal High School was Carmin O. Gagnano. He helped establish the organization of athletics and the school’s newspaper, “Safari”. June 1962 was Duval’s first graduation date.

Academics

DuVal has a wide variety of educational courses required for graduation. This includes advance placement, English literature and language, mathematics, science, and history. DHS also has classes ranging from fashion design, child development, Spanish, French, and other performing arts courses. DHS operates on a block schedule between the times of 8:30 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. There are 4 periods each day consisting of 1 hour and 30 minutes
