Lewis Samuel Feuer

Lewis Samuel Feuer (1912-2002) was an American sociologist. Initially a committed Marxist, in later life he was a neo-conservative.

Life

He was born in Manhattan. He graduated from City College in 1931, and was awarded a Ph. D. at Harvard University in 1935. for a dissertation in philosophy supervised by Alfred North Whitehead. After World War II. he taught at Vassar College, the University of Toronto, and Berkeley, where he early witnessed some of the student unrest about which he was to write.
