Eighth Avenue (Brooklyn)

Eighth Avenue is an important thoroughfare and commercial avenue in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The avenue travels from Fort Greene, Brooklyn through Park Slope, Sunset Park and Dyker Heights.

Route description

8th Avenue exists in three segments. In first segment it runs as a northbound two-lane, one-way avenue from Flatbush Avenue to 18th Street where its path is impeded by the open-cut Prospect Expressway. The second segment also runs one-way northbound but only with one-lane on the opposite side of the expressway from 19th to 20th street. The third segment runs as a two-lane, two-way avenue from a dead-end south of the Jackie Gleason Yards at 38th Street to a triangle intersection with 7th Avenue just north of 73rd Street.
