George Forbes, 7th Earl of Granard

Sir George Arthur Hastings Forbes, 7th Earl of Granard(born 5 August 1833 died 25 August 1889)

The 7th Earl of Granard was born on 5 August 1833. He was the son of Maj.-Gen. George John Forbes, Viscount Forbes and Frances Mary Territt.1 He married, firstly, Jane Colclough Morgan, daughter of Hamilton Knox Grogan Morgan, on 2 June 1858. He married, secondly, Hon. Frances Mary Petre, daughter of William Bernard Petre, 12th Baron Petre and Mary Theresa Clifford, on 4 September 1873. He died on 25 August 1889 at age 56.

He was a member of the Senate of the Royal University of Ireland, He held the office of Vice-Admiral of Connaught. He was invested as a Knight, Order of St. Patrick (K.P.) in 1857. He was decorated with the Knight, Soveriegn Military Order of Malta. He was Lieutenant-Colonel Commandant of the 9th Battalion, Rifle Brigade, Prince Consort's Own. He was decorated with the Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Gregory the Great.
