Carlos Davis (born James Carlos Davis; October 11, 1948 - present) is an American screenwriter, executive producer and playwright [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0204313/] ] . He is best known for co-authoring the screenplay Drop Dead Fred.

Early Years

Carlos Davis was born in San Francisco, California, the son of Aida Ester Minamora (November 20, 1912 – September 23, 1993), an art collector and world traveler from Santa Ana, El Salvador who never became an American citizen, and James (June 22, 1911 – January 24, 1954), a San Francisco native who co-managed the Davis Hardwood Company -- the first American company to import Philippine hardwood [http://www.pcwhda.com/] ] . He has a sister, Louisa Aida Davis (February 8, 1950 - present), who was also born in San Francisco. The Davis children were raised in San Francisco, New York City, and Europe. Carlos Davis attended Town School, San Francisco, The Allen-Stevenson School (New York City), Riverdale Country School (New York City), New York University's undergraduate program in Spain, London University, and Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.), where he finally earned his bachelor's degree.

Marriages

He married and divorced 3 times.

After divorcing Maria-Eugenia Mena Artiz, whom he married at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York in 1970, Carlos married former Founding Editor of Saveur and Metropolitan Home and former Executive Editor of Newsweek, Dorothy Kalins, [http://www.zoominfo.com/people/Kalins_Dorothy_19084541.aspx] ] in 1982. He married his third wife Lynette Latiolatis in 1987, with whom he had his son, James Christopher Davis (September 4, 1991 - present). Latiolatis and Davis divorced after James was born.

Currently

Davis resides in Manhattan.

Current Projects

He is working on a new Drop Dead Fred film with a major studio, aiming for a Memorial Day 2010 release date, and writing a new comedy called Wicked Smart about a novelist who cannot write unless he is in love. Davis is also a producer for the future musical version of the 1954 film, Sabrina.

Rascals and Robbers: The Secret Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn was nominated for 3 Emmys, and it was the first role for both Anthony Michael Hall and Cynthia Nixon.
