The Nihongo|Kasumigaseki Building|霞が関ビル|Kasumigaseki biru is a 30-story skyscraper located in Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda, Tokyo. The building is widely regarded as the first modern office skyscraper in Japan. The reason high-rise buildings were not built in the country earlier was that the Building Standard Law set a uniform maximum height of 31 m to protect the cityscape and avoid the technical issues involved in building large buildings in a country prone to earthquakes.
