Matteo Giampaolo Vitaioli (born 27 October 1989 in Fiorentino, San Marino), is a Sammarinese association football striker who is currently playing out his third spell at San Marino Calcio.

Career

Vitaioli has represented two clubs on a permanent basis: San Marino Calcio and Tre Fiori, and has played for three clubs on loan: Empoli (although he failed to make a single league appearance in the second half of 2005–06 Serie A), ASD Cagliese and Real Montecchio.

He is considered to be one of the most promising young talents in the San Marino national football team, often regarded as a key member of the squad, partnering Andy Selva and Nicola Ciacci in a three-pronged San Marino attack. He has won twelve caps to date but has yet to record his first goal.[1]

As of 3 September 2010, in the domestic leagues, Vitaioli has scored 44 goals in 90 games, an impressive record. However, most of these have been scored for clubs in San Marino, most notably for San Marino Calcio, where he has 21 strikes in 26 league appearances to his name across three different spells with the club.

He wears the number 11 shirt for both club and country.[2]
