William Warren Hunt

The Rt Rev William Warren Hunt was the inaugural Bishop of Repton from 1965 to 1977 [ [http://www.derby.anglican.org/about/facts_n_stats.php Derby Bishops] ] ; and from then until his death an Assistant Bishop within the Diocese of Chichester. Born on 22 January 1909 he was educated at Keble College, Oxford [Who's Who 1970 London, A & C Black, 1971 ISBN 0713611405 ] and Ripon College Cuddesdon. In 1935 he made a sideways move to St Martin-in-the-Fields during which time he married Mollie Green [The Times, Saturday, May 20, 1939; pg. 15; Issue 48310; col B Marriages Rev WWHunt and Miss M Green] :together they had four daughters. From 1940 to the end of the war he was a Chaplain to the Forces after which he became Vicar of St Nicholas Radford, Coventry [ [http://www.leamingtonphotos.com/Pages/st_nicholas_church_radford_LPL0115.htm Photo of church] ] . He was then successively Vicar of Leamington Spa and Rural Dean of Croydon before his elevation to the Episcopate. In 1976 he announced his retirement [Crockford's clerical directory Lambeth, Church House, 1976 ISBN 0108153674] and the following year moved to Bosham where he lived until his death on 29 September 1994.
