Managing the New Frontiers

Managing the New Frontiers

Managing the New Frontiers by Jonathan T. Scott (published by Management Education Services, Panama City, Fla, USA, 2008)

An acclaimed business and management book that presents the fundamentals of efficiency, sustainability, and waste reduction. Designed for employees, managers, business teachers, and business students (i.e.: practitioners, educators, and students at an undergraduate, graduate, and post-gradute MBA level), the book began in 2005 as a series of lecture topics (for a popular management course) and grew to a 30-hour university course and textbook.

Both the author and publisher have made the book (in its entirety) available for free on the Internet. Because of its substantive nature, it is currently being distributed by several leading universities and research centers in a bid to:

1. help strengthen the world's business communities (particularly during economic difficulties)

2. promote responsible business as a whole

3. reduce environmental degradation

People and institutions that submitted information to the author - and/or who worked with him while he compiled explanatory material and case studies for the book - include:

Walter Stahel (considered to be one of the founding fathers of sustainability); Hunter Lovins (a giant in the field of corporate responsbility and environmentalism); Thomas Sterr (Managing Director of IUWA Gmbh and Senior Research Associate at the University of Heidelberg); J. Andrew Hoerner (Director of Research at Redefining Progress); The International Institute for Sustainable Development; The Product-Life Institute; The Rocky Mountain Institute; Modern Machine Shop Magazine; Energy Star; Energy Action; etc....

Following is a list of the universities and research centres where the book can be downloaded (free of charge):
