Arrabida IPR

Arrabida is a Portuguese wine region centered around the Arrabida hills on the Península de Setúbal. The region has the second tier "Indicação de Proveniencia Regulamentada" (IPR) classification and maybe some day promoted to Denominação de Origem Controlada (DOC). The soil of the area is predominately limestone with good drainage potential for the cultivation of red wine varieties. Many wines grown in this area are sold under the Terras do Sado VR designation. Grapes

The principle grapes of the Arrabida region include Alfocheiro, Arinto, Cabernet Sauvignon, Fernao Pires, Muscat of Alexandria, Periquita, Rabo de Ovelha and Roupeiro.
