Leif Murphy,(6'3" 265 lb.) is a professional football player. He is currently a
Defensive End for theGrand Rapids Rampage of theArena Football League . In 2008, he was second on the team in sacks in spite of seeing limited action due to injury.He played for the
United Bowl ChampionSioux Falls Storm in 2007, and theOmaha Beef in 2005 & 2006. Both teams were members ofUnited Indoor Football . He was named All-UIF all three seasons.In 2004, he played for the
Tri-City Diesel of theNational Indoor Football League , and was named Pacific Conference Defensive Player of the Year.He began the 2003 season with the
Canadian Football League ’sOttawa Renegades before joining theBismarck Roughriders of the NIFL.In college, he was a four-year starter at North Dakota State Universityfrom 1999 to 2002, All-America First Team selection as a junior in 2001 after leading the Bison with 11 sacks.He completed his collegiate career with 129 tackles and 22 sacks.
In High school, he earned All-State and Defensive Player of the Year awards at Spring Lake Park (Minn.) Senior High School.
