The Gojoseon-Han War was a campaign launched by the Han Dynasty of China against the Gojoseon between 109 BC and 108 BC. It resulted in the Victory of Han and Gojoseon Finally destroyed.

Background

Gojoseon was developed highly, expanded its territory widely and benefit from trades between Han and other countries. Han was afraid of growth of Gojoseon. So Emperor Wu appointed She He(涉何) as a ambassador to Gojoseon. However he was killed. So, Emperor Wu grew angry and sent 50,000 armies and 7,000 naval forces.

A force of Yang Pu(杨仆) was defeated and another force of Xun Zhi(荀彘) was also obstructed by Gojoseon. So, Emperor Wu sent an envoy ordering surrender. King Ugeo agreed and sent the crown prince as a hostage. However, the crown prince doubted of Han. So he returned to Gojoseon and the war became restarted.

As a result of a conflict between Yang Pu and Xun Zhi, King Ugeo(右渠王), a grandson of Wiman, kept Wanggeom-seong, the capital city of Gojoseon, for several months easily from Han forces. But, the conflict finllay ended because Xun Zhi imprisoned Yang Pu and unified whole Han forces. Attacks became stronger. Gojoseon ministers such as Min. No In(朝鮮相 路人), Min. Han Eum(相 韓陰), Min. Sam(尼谿相 參), Gen. Wang Gyeop(將軍 王唊) insisted to surrender to Han. But king Ugeo disagreed. Eventually, in April of 108BC, they surrendered to Han and Min. Sam assassinated king Ugeo.

Though ministers surrendered and the king died, the capital city wasn't fallen. Under leadership of Minister Seong Gi(成己), Gojoseon people still struggled against Han. But, Seong Gi was also assassinated and the city finally falled to Han.
