Michael Cloud

Michael Cloud (Born Michael Emerling) is a motivational speaker and Libertarian Party activist. Cloud was the Massachusetts Libertarian Party candidate for U.S. Senate in 2002. He garnered about 16.7% of the vote in a 2-way race against the Democratic candidate, benefiting from the lack of a Republican candidate in the race. Cloud also ran in the 1998 Senate Elections as the Libertarian candidate in Nevada. Cloud received 8,129 votes for 1.9% of the vote [ [http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/electionInfo/1998/98Stat.htm#28 "State House" "elections info," Oct. 5, 2008] ] . He briefly served as campaign manager for the 1996 Harry Browne for President campaign, replaced by Sharon Ayres.

In 2004 Michael Cloud was a Co-founder of the Center For Small Government an organization dedicated to limiting the size of state and federal government. Cloud is currently working with fellow Libertarian Party member Carla Howell as co-chair of The Committee For Small Government. The Committee's goal is to put the issue of ending the Massachusetts income tax on the 2008 ballot. In 2002, a similar campaign ended up with 45.3 percent of the vote [ [http://thirdpartywatch.com/2007/11/20/ending-the-income-tax-in-taxachusetts "Third Party Watch" "2002 end the income tax initiative," Oct. 5, 2008] ] .
