Carl-August Landfermann (
14 July 1914 inDortmund –18 November 2003 inHagen ) was a German chief engineer on aU-boat inWorld War II and recipient of theKnight's Cross of the Iron Cross .Landfermann was stattioned on "U-181" under the command of
Wolfgang Lüth when "U-181" made the second longest patrol in U-boat history. When "U-181" returned from this patrol Landfermann received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on27 October 1943 from "Großadmiral "Karl Dönitz , after Lüth had recommended him for the second time.
