Pangaea Expedition

Pangaea Expedition

The Pangaea Expedition is a worldwide voyage led by Mike Horn. Mike Horn will also be joined, at various points in his journey, by twelve young adults between the ages of 13 and 20. The young adults will be native to every continent, excluding Antarctica. It is an economic study scheduled to run from 2008 to 2011. It is believedWho|date=October 2008 that when accomplished, the world will better understand the climate crisis.

Means of transportation

This trip will mainly be completed by yacht. The yacht is a convert|35|m|ft|adj=on long vessel that sleeps thirty. Other than that, Horn, and his fellow voyagers, will use other such means, such as walking, kayaking, cycling, paragliding, skiing, sailing, and will also use "animal power" such as canines, elephants, and camels- to cross all sorts of terrain: Oceans, rivers and lakes, mountains, desert, jungle, tundra and ice fields.

Location

The voyage will start offUpdate after|2008|10|10 from the Punta Arenas and start due south towards the South Pole to study the glaciers, to Australia, Asia, Russia, and due west towards Iceland and Greenland, the North Pole and back to the Punta Arenas. In these areas, research will be conducted depending on the environment. For example, the "poles" and the Punta Arenas are areas where study is based on glaciers and their conditions, and in the Himalayas near Bhutan, altitude research will be conducted.
