Viaţa românească is a
Romanian monthly magazine, published at present by theWriters' Union of Romania .The magazine, dedicated to literary and scientific issues, was published from March 1906 to August 1916 and from September 1920 to September 1940, first in
Iaşi and then, after 1930 inBucharest . The magazine was under the leadership ofConstantin Stere (for political problems),Paul Bujor and, later, dr.Ioan Cantacuzino (for scientific problems),Garabet Ibrăileanu (till 1933),Mihai Ralea şiGeorge Călinescu (for literature). Suppressed in 1940, "Viaţa românească" was published again, first in a transition form, from November 1944 to July 1946, directed byMihai Ralea . Finally, the present magazine was published, starting July 1948, ca revistă lunară de literatură a „Societăţii Scriitorilor din România”, and from March 1949 aWriters' Union of Romania .References
