Ben Johnson (born 1946) is a British painter, best known for his series of large, detailed
cityscape s. Born inLlandudno , northWales , Johnson studied at theRoyal College of Art in London. His first solo exhibition was held in New York in 1969. architecture are large and highly detailed. His cityscapes have so far includedHong Kong ,Jerusalem ,Zurich , andLiverpool . The last was painted for Liverpool'sEuropean City of Culture celebrations in 2008. It took three years to complete, with the artist working alongside up to eleven assistants, and was completed during anartist residency at theWalker Art Gallery .
