Keith Karl Hilbig (born
March 12 ,1942 ) has been ageneral authority ofChurch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 2001. Prior to becoming a general authority, he wasgeneral counsel for the LDS Church inEurope .Hilbig was born in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin . His father, Karl Herbert Hilbig, was an immigrant fromZwickau ,Germany who had joined the LDS Church before immigrating to the United States.As a young man, Hilbig served as a
Mormon missionary in the LDS Church's Central German Mission. He married Susan Rae Logie in theSalt Lake Temple in 1967. They are the parents of six children.Hilbig holds a
bachelor's degree in European history fromPrinceton University and a law degree fromDuke University . He also attendedBrigham Young University for a semester after his mission. That is where he met his wife. Hilbig worked for a large law firm in theLos Angeles area ofCalifornia and later had his own law practice.In the LDS Church, Hilbig has been a bishop,
stake president , seminary teacher, and aregional representative of the Twelve . From 1989 to 1992, he was the president of the church'sSwitzerland Zürich Mission. From 1995 to 2001, Hilbig was anarea seventy . In April 2001, he became a general authority and a member of theSecond Quorum of the Seventy . He was transferred to theFirst Quorum of the Seventy in April 2006. In 2008, he was a counselor toDavid S. Baxter in the presidency of the church's Pacific Area.References
