"Lead Me On" is the title of a popular song from 1979 (see 1979 in music) by the British singer Maxine Nightingale. The words were written by Allee Willis and the music is by David Lasley. The song first appeared on Nightingale's album of the same name.
Released as a single in mid-1979, the song was Nightingale's second Top Five hit in the United States where it peaked at #5 on the "Billboard" Hot 100 chart.[Whitburn, Joel (2004). "The Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits", 8th Edition (Billboard Publications)] An earlier single, the disco track "Right Back Where We Started From", had gone to #2 on the Hot 100 chart in 1976.] The ballad, "Lead Me On", spent fourteen weeks in the Top 40 and was certified a Gold Record by the RIAA.
