- Robert Cundick
Robert Milton Cundick (born 1926) was an organist for the
Mormon Tabernacle Choir and is also a composer. Cundick is most noted for starting the two person accompanyment on the Tabernacle Organ. He also was connected with the apointment of the first female organists at the Tabernacle Organ. He has been widely recognized for his musical contributions by such organizations as the "Deseret News". Some of Cundick's work has been described as "post-romantic". Cundick is a graduate of the
University of Utah . Prior to becoming Tabernacle Organist he was a music professor atBrigham Young University and served for two years as organist at the Hyde Park, London Chapel of the LDS Church. He has written such works as "Overture for a Celebration", "The Redeemer", "To Utah", "The Pioneer Women", "Behold! He Shall be Born of Mary" and "The Mormon Pioneer Saga".
Cundick also served for a time as the head music coordinator for the LDS Church.
After retiring as Tabernacle Organist in 1991, Cundick and his wife served as heads of hosting at the
BYU Jerusalem Center .Hymns 198 and 279 in the current English edition of the LDS hymnbook have music by Cundick.
