Jean-Cyril Spinetta

Early life and formation

Spinetta was born in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, the son of Corsican father and mother. He attended to the Lycée Hoche in Versailles then to Faculty of Law at the University of Paris. He was also graduated from Sciences Po ("Institute for Politics Studies") and entered after his degree at the École Nationale d'Administration ("National School of Administration") in 1970.

Career

After several occupation in differents ministers, he became in 1990 Chairman and CEO of the former airline Air Inter. In 1997, Spinetta was designed as the Chairman and CEO of the National company Air France and the holding Air France-KLM in 2003. He was also chairman in 2004-2005 of International Air Transport Association (IATA).

It was announced on September 24 2008 that Jean-Cyril Spinetta will be replaced by his COO Pierre-Jean Gourgeon in January 1, 2009 to the post of CEO.
