The Tuscan Sun Festival - Festival del Sole - is an annual August event which includes a collection of concerts performed by some of the world’s most acclaimed musical artists, exhibitions with leading visual artists, discussions with top literary figures, free film screenings and culinary and wine events with some of Tuscany's renowned chefs and winemakers.

Previously called “One of the Ten Best Summer Arts Festivals in Europe”, by The Independent newspaper in the U.K in 2003, The Tuscan Sun Festival moves into its seventh year August 1-9, 2009. Concerts take place in Cortona in both the intimate Teatro Signorelli, as well as other picturesque settings around the town. The musical programme ranges from recitals to major outside gala events which, in the past, have included artists such as Piotr Anderszewski, Joshua Bell, The Bolshoi Ballet, José Cura, Stéphane Denève, Danielle de Niese, Andrea Marcon and the Venice Baroque Orchestra, Ana Maria Martinez, Gabrielle Montero, Antonio Pappano, Robert Redford, Sibylle Szaggars and Pinchas Zukerman.
