The Ballet is a band from Brooklyn, New York, consisting of Greg Goldberg, Craig Willse, Marina Miranda, and a revolving lineup of other instrumentalists. Their music combines orchestral instrumentation with synthesized drums and basslines, while their lyrics are often narrative and concerned with topics such as unrequited love or innocent sexual encounters.

The Ballet has released one album, "Mattachine!". The album has been self-distributed via their website, and was created and released without the support of a label. It was positively received, and the band has been listed among OUT Magazine's Seven Best New Artists of 2008. [http://www.out.com/exclusives.asp?id=24135]

Their two male members are both openly gay, and many thematic elements of their songs and album covers are evocative of same-sex romance. The name of their first album was inspired by The Mattachine Society, the first prominent gay rights organization in the United States.
