Patthe Bapurao

Patthe Bapurao (1868–1941) was a Marathi singer-poet in the tamāshā genre. Born a brahmin, he married the courtesan Pawala and became one of the most popular performers of early twentieth century. A movie has been made after him, and several streets named for him in Mumbai and other cities. The name is also written Bapurav.
