updated = The 2010 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships will be held in Germany. The games will be played in the Lanxess Arena in Cologne and the SAP Arena in Mannheim.

Other bidding federation included Slovakia, Sweden, and Belarus. Slovakia and Sweden withdrew from bidding before voting began indorder to apply for the 2011 championship. Belarus' bidding cities Minsk and Zhodino received 18 votes to Germany's 89. [http://www.eishockey.org/default.aspx?SIId=196&ARId=3483] Germany, or West Germany, has previously hosted the championships in 1930, 1955, 1975, 1983, 1993 and 2001 as well as the 1936 Olympic ice hockey tournament that also counted as world championship.
