*1998YES, Inc. was founded in
Orange, MA by Tim Cohen-Mitchell, a community organizer at theOrange Revitalization Partnership (ORP).*2000YES, Inc. received 501(c)3 status. A storefront location was donated by Donn Deane, a local entrepreneur. Over three years of support from the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts enabled YES to train more teachers and offer their programs to youth in Athol, Greenfield, Turners Falls, Cummington and Shelburne.
*2002The Public Service Endowment at the
University of Massachusetts, Amherst provided major funding for YES to pilot its 140-hour social enterprise planning program, the Co-op Biz-Team. Biz-Team was made up of BizVenture! Alumni who worked together to create a business plan for a cyber cafe and copy shop. This business plan won first place at the National4H Council/USDA Cooperative Business Plan Competition.*2003The Biz-Team's award winning business plan enabled YES to acquire a mortgage for two adjoined buildings in downtown Orange.
*2004The Biz-Team's plan was realized and the two earned income ventures open their doors at the new storefront as the BizCenter (copy shop) and Teen Cyber Cafe.
