=History=

Beginnings

Backpack Vagabond Records [ [http://www.myspace.com/backpackvagabondrecords] ] is an independent hip-hop label out of Huntington, WV. The label was started by three friends: Jordan Andrew Jefferson aka Snowman, Matthew Pack aka Leonard, and Andrew Temple aka werD. These three were original members of the hip-hop group Pottie Skippen which was also based in Huntington. After leaving Pottie Skippen, the three started to make solo music and collaborations, i.e. Snowman and Leonard's Indie Hip-Hop album. Shortly after, the three decided to create "The Underground Hip-Hop Scene" in West Virginia. Thus, Backpack Vagabond Records was born. Most recording, mixing and editing is done by Matthew Pack in his studio: Leonard's Bakery. Other songs are edited by Jordan Andrew Jefferson in his studio: The Lonely Ship, and in Andrew Temple's studio: werD's Notebook.

Origins of Label Name

The name "Backpack Vagabond Records" was created in reference to being a "backpack rapper." This basically means that your own private record store is your backpack. A vagabond is someone who is constantly traveling and lacking a fixed home. This term can be used to reference Jesus Christ. Thus, the artists and owners of Backpack Vagabond Records are promoting the message of Jesus through hot beats and conscious lyrics.
