Solheim began his archaeological training at the
University of California, Berkeley , and then spent several semesters at theUniversity of the Philippines underProf. H. Otley Beyer . He completed his Ph.D. at theUniversity of Arizona , 1959. He has been Professor Emeritus Department of Anthropology,University of Hawaii at Manoa since he retired in December 1991. In 1997, he then joined the staff of the Archaeological Studies Program at theUniversity of the Philippines, Diliman .ources
