Rosa Tamarkina

Rosa Tamarkina (Kiev, March 23, 1920 - Moscow, August 5, 1950) was an Ukrainian pianist.

At the age of 17, while a student under Alexander Goldenweiser at the Moscow Conservatory, she was second to Jakov Zak at the III Fryderyk Chopin Competition. This success launched her concert career within the USSR.

Since 1946 she centered on teaching at the Moscow Conservatory, but while she performed less frequently she recorded regularly. Her last public performance was a contribution to Chopin's centenary celebrations at the Conservatory's Great Hall.
