Irina Zaritskaya (born in
Kiev , May 2, 1939; died inLondon , July 30, 2001) was an Ukrainian pianist.While a student at the
Moscow Conservatory underJakov Zak , she was second toMaurizio Pollini at the VI Fryderyk Chopin Competition, winning two additional awards. This success launched her concert career, but she wasn't allowed to perform internationally. She emigrated to Israel in 1972, before settling in London in the mid-80s.References
