Wigmore Hall Live (record label)

In October 2005, the Wigmore Hall became the first music venue to launch its own record label: Wigmore Hall Live. One of the label's main aims has been to bring the hall's musical programme to a wider audience, as well as to solidify the hall's excellent worldwide reputation. These aims have been both encouraged and achieved with a number of their recordings receiving great acclaim.

Before launching its label, the Wigmore Hall set about on a refurbishing scheme, including the installation of state-of-the-art recording equipment and comprehensive sound insulation. These technological improvements quickly paid off with the Soile Isokoski disc (recorded live in 2006) receiving a Gramophone Award nomination. Gramophone Award nominations have also been linked to Wigmore Hall Live recordings by Lorraine Hunt-Lieberson and Peter Schreier. Further to this, reviews of Wigmore Hall Live discs are regular features in publications such as The Times and the Guardian, as well as on BBC radio.

Since 2005, the label has gone on to release over 20 discs featuring artists such as Dame Felicity Lott, Imogen Cooper, the Arditti Quartet, Christine Brewer and the Nash Ensemble. In October 2008 Wigmore Hall Live is set to celebrate its 24th and 25th releases featuring Gerald Finley and the late Lorriane Hunt-Lieberson.
