Lia Andrea Aquino Ramos is a beauty-queen, model and a diplomatic worker based in the Philippines. She won the Binibining Pilipinas-Universe title in 2006 at the age of 25. She was also a top favorite at the Miss Universe 2006 pageant in Los Angeles, California where she bagged the Miss Photogenic Award. [www.missuniverse.com]

Student Life

A resident of Davao, she took her secondary degree at the Ateneo de Davao University. She later moved and graduated from the University of the Philippines-Diliman in 2002 where she majored in Political Science. She entered the campus political scene as a Councilor in the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy Student Council (CSSPSC) in AY 2001-2002. A diligent scholar, she also became a member of the UP Junior Marketing Association, UP Diliman's largest student-based organization.

Beauty Queen

Her early exposure to beauty contests started when first joined the Miss Global Philippines in 2002. She landed as one of the Top 10 Semifinalists. The eventual winner, JP Abinuman, won the Miss Global Queen title in Canada that same year.

She was working in one of the UN-accredited agencies when she decided to compete for the Binibining Pilipinas 2006 pageant where she received a number of special awards. [citation needed]

In the Miss Universe 2006 pageant, she was considered a big favorite by local and international press. The winner was Zuleyka Rivera of Puerto Rico and the runner-up was Kurara Chibana of Japan.

Lia today

She is now covering the pages of various local and international magazines. She recently has a modelling stint in South Africa.

Going back to law school or pursue diplomatic work, however, is still an option for this talented lady.
