Barbara nic dhonnacha

Barbara Nic Dhonnacha is an Irish radio host and actress. She currently presents [http://www.i102104.ie/iareileamh/index.html Ar Éileamh] , a bilingual radio show on i102-104FM.

Background

Brought up in a Gaeltacht region known as Connemara in County Galway, her education was entirely done through the means of the Irish language.

Radio

Having completed her Leaving Certificate she moved to Dublin and it was at some point whilst living in the capital that her interest in radio began. She volunteered with Raidió na Life and presented a weekly show entirely in the Irish language. Offered a job with the new regional radio station i102-104FM sometime around 2008, she then moved back to Galway permanently to take up her role as the daily bilingual presenter.

Acting

She began acting in her early teens attending various workshops and drama schools. One drama school was Backstage Academy of Performing Arts. Based in Galway City it not only specialized in acting, but also dance, singing, percussion and various other aspects of performance. Na Crosáin, an acting group working through the means of the Irish language resulted in her gaining much stage performance in An Taibhdhearc, an Irish language theatre in Galway city.

Film
